Install the spreadsheet skill

Write the spreadsheet, map, database and runbook skills into a folder and install the runtime that recalculates a workbook, draws a map and migrates a database.

You have opened a session in Productivity mode on a folder and want it ready for .sheet workbooks, .geomap maps, .database databases and .runbook timetables.

  1. Look at the session header, above the transcript. A Productivity skills missing chip appears there when the folder lacks a skill. It also appears when this machine has no sheets runtime for this build. It reads Productivity skills outdated when a skill is older than this build of Turret.
  2. Press the chip. It opens a note saying which of the skills and the runtime are missing.
  3. Press Install. Turret writes each missing skill into the folder, then installs the runtime. The note lists each step as it runs, and the chip reads Installing… until they finish.
  4. When every step shows a tick, the chip goes away.

The button reads Install skills when several skills are missing and the runtime is not, and Install skill when a single skill is. It reads Install runtime when only the runtime is missing, and Update when a skill is older than this build. A runtime built for older pins reads as missing.

If Turret cannot write a skill, it stops there and does not go on to the runtime. If a step of the runtime install fails, the note names the step and says why. Press Try again to run the whole install again.

Stop offering in the note stops Turret offering the skills for that folder. The runtime is shared by every folder on the machine, so a Productivity session in another folder still offers to install it.

A personal copy of a skill under ~/.claude/skills/ overrides the folder's own. The chip then reads Skill shadowed, and the note offers only what else is missing.

On a machine Turret has no runtime for, the note says so and offers only the skills. A workbook still opens in the panel, but nothing on that machine can recalculate its formulas, resolve a map or migrate a database.

On an Android phone the skills are offered by a band under the session's header instead of a chip. It says which skills the folder is missing or has out of date, and its Install button writes them into the folder. The button reads Update when the skills are only out of date.

The band's × stops it offering the skills for that folder.

An Android phone also differs on the runtime. A session there runs the phone's own Python, which recalculates a workbook and resolves a map with nothing installed. Drawing a chart, reading a workbook into a table and saving a map as a picture need the phone's Python packages. Install them once, from the Python group in Settings or from the band a Productivity session shows under its header.

When a new version of Turret carries newer packages, the phone updates them on its own and says so in the same two places.

See Modes for what Productivity mode adds to a session.
