Stop being asked about a tool
Turn off an always-asks entry so a Claude tool call it covers stops interrupting a session for an answer.
A Claude tool call keeps stopping the session to ask you, even with an Allow List rule covering it. It also sits on the always-asks list, which forces the ask regardless.
- Open Settings and the Claude tab.
- Scroll to Always asks a person.
- Under Built in, switch off the entry's checkbox to stop enforcing it.
- Under Your own always-asks, press an entry's Remove button to take it off the list.
Switching off a built-in entry, or removing an entry you added yourself, reaches a session the next time it starts. A session already running keeps asking until it does.
An Allow List rule never overrides an entry still on this list. Write a rule as well, from Write a permission rule, if the tool also needs to be granted rather than only stop forcing an ask.
See Settings for what the always-asks section covers under every mode.
