Keyboard shortcuts

Every keyboard shortcut Turret answers to, on both platforms, and what each one does.

Shortcut What it does
Ctrl+B (⌘B on a Mac) Collapses or expands the sidebar.
Ctrl + . (⌘ + . on a Mac) Opens the file browser from the composer.
Ctrl+Shift+N (⇧⌘N on a Mac) Ends this conversation and starts the next one here, with the transcript kept above the line.
Ctrl+N (⌘N on a Mac) Opens the new-session screen.
Ctrl+Alt+N (⌥⌘N on a Mac) Opens the New Chat screen. Nothing is made until the first message is sent.
Ctrl+E (⌘E on a Mac) Opens the Files region. With it open, folds the transcript out of the way and brings it back, or switches between the transcript and the viewer when the window is too narrow to show both.
Ctrl+P (⌘P on a Mac) Finds a file in the session's folder by name and opens it in the Files region.
Ctrl+S (⌘S on a Mac) Saves the file open in the Files region.

The file browser shortcut fires only while the composer's own text box has focus. The new-session shortcut does nothing while the new-session screen is already open. The New Chat shortcut does nothing while that screen is open or while a dialog is up. The New Chat screen takes the conversation pane, so both shortcuts still read while it is showing.

After a turn ends, a Claude session can suggest the next message. The suggestion shows in the empty message box with a Tab key cap beside it. Tab writes it into the box, where it can be edited before sending.

Typing anything hides the suggestion, and the next turn clears it. promptSuggestionEnabled: false in Claude Code's settings.json turns suggestions off.

The sidebar, new-conversation and Files region shortcuts read from anywhere in the window, except while a dialog or an overlay is open. The new-conversation shortcut also does nothing unless the session is idle, the same condition its own control observes.

The Files region shortcut opens the region while it is closed. With the region open in a wide window, it folds the transcript to a narrow strip and brings it back. Click the strip to bring the transcript back too. A question or permission request from the session also unfolds it, and the shortcut will not fold it over a request.

In a window too narrow for both, the shortcut switches between the transcript and the region.
