Mention a file in the composer
Point a message at a specific file by picking it, rather than typing its path from memory.
You want a message to reference a specific file, picked rather than typed from memory.
- Press
Ctrl + .(⌘ + .on a Mac) to open the file picker over the composer. - Type part of the file's name or path into the picker's own search box.
- Press Enter on the highlighted row, or click a row. Picking a file writes
@pathinto the draft and closes the picker.
To mention a second file, press Ctrl + . again. The picker offers no way to pick several
files at once, so reopening it is how a message ends up with several mentions.
Dragging a file onto the composer does not mention it. The composer's drop target only takes an image.
See File mentions for which files the picker offers and how typing narrows them.
